What's on my face?

So this is a new thing.

I'm not a professional when it comes to make-up, not by any means. But I am a girl on a tight budget, whose skin can sometimes be problematic, and who likes to make the best of what her mama gave her, so to speak. Something which really grinds my metaphorical gears when it comes to 'beauty-gurus' is that they show us how to create these looks, all the while bombarding us with highly edited images, created using studio lights and filters. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for overfiltered selfies (exhbit A), but I never actually know what products look like on these gurus faces, because almost everyone looks good under studio lights! So if you're curious, this is what my head looks like when I have a little time to do my make-up, so, not my everyday 'shitijustwokeupandhavetobeinclassin20mins' look, but what I'd wear for a casual date, or a meeting, or something along those lines. So yeah, here I am in all my unfiltered, unedited glory, enjoy!

haha, this shot is awkward.. I WAS TRYING TO SHOW MY EYELIDS.

S H O P  T H I S  L O O K

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel - Keeps my big ol' bushy brows in check all day.
Body Shop Instablur Primer - Works as well as the benefit one, way cheaper.
Body Shop Brush on Bronze - Do I not look bronzed to you?
Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation (102) - My winter foundation. It's good.
Chanel Le Volume Mascara (Noir) - Okay, so this was my christmas present to myself. A little excessive... BUT LOOK AT DEM LASHES.
L'Oréal True Match Crayon Correcteur (Vanille) - Super duper blendable and soft. Matte. I have HORRID under eye circles so literally nothing makes them go away, but I think this is perfectly nice.
L'Oréal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss (Sin for Peach) - My lips, but better.
L'Oréal Super Liner Perfect Slim  - My fave liner. Literally wear this every day.
L'Oréal Color Riche l'Ombre Pure (600) -  Inner eye, under brow & highlight. I LOVE this one.
Sleek Blush (Rose Gold) - So the beauty gurus put me onto this brand, but honestly, for the price, it's so good.
Sleek Professional Finishing Powder - My first foray into translucent powder. Terrifyingly sparkly in the packaging and even when you swatch, but beautiful on the skin and doesn't f*ck with your foundation colour.
Sleek i Divine Palette (Au Naturel) - Cheap palette, not as good as high-end, but not bad, good colours.
Maybelline Color Tattoo (Pink Gold) - I got this one and the bronze one on a 2 for 1, and this was the one I picked up 'free', wasn't expecting to use it more than the bronze, but I use this all the time and I adore it.
In hindsight, this looks like a hell of a lot of make-up, but I don't think it looks like too much? Does it? Let me know, please. Also let me know if you have any reccommendations along these lines, cheap and cheerful!

This is me feeeeeeelin' my new hair, what do you think??? PS. Sorry that my cactus is flipping you off.

  2. I love it! I agree about edited images and using lighting and all that…it's so ridiculous. Plus they spend hours doing it! I think this is a great natural look for you & thanks for sharing :)
